Support Program

Support programs and events offer additional types of support, ranging from speaking to someone who has experienced cancer to yoga and exercise programs.

Cancer Survivor’s Day
This annual celebration for cancer survivors, their families and friends, healthcare professionals, and community members is held in June. This fun-filled day is about socializing, interacting with staff and peers, and celebrating life during and after cancer.  View VIDEO

Coping with Cancer…Together
If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, we can help. If you would like to speak to someone who has survived cancer, we are here for you. We are willing to chat via e-mail, phone, or in person. If you would like someone to go to an appointment with you, that can also be arranged. All peer mentors have been formally trained and are required to participate in continuing education annually. All contact is confidential. For more information, call (631) 638-0004.

Strength for Life
This free one-hour group class is for men and women who are currently receiving cancer treatment. Lead by a certified cancer exercise specialist, clients use modalities such as rebounders, tubing and physioballs to gain strength and flexibility. Each client is carefully monitored with special consideration to the individual’s situation. A note of medical clearance is necessary for the initial session.

Therapeutic Yoga Program
This program is offered on an outpatient basis through the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. It is supervised and coordinated by a physical therapist who is a certified yoga instructor. It is open to patients with cancer, as well as family and friends. To register, call (631) 444-4240.

Monday Night Yoga Program
