At Stony Brook Cancer Center, we understand that cancer is more than a disease to be treated. It is life encompassing and deserves individualized attention.

Our experts within the comprehensive Lung Cancer and Chest Disease Program provide multidisciplinary care for lung cancer or suspected lung cancer and other conditions of the lungs. Care begins with diagnostic testing and evaluation and proceeds to advanced, coordinated treatments. In the case of known or suspected lung cancer, there are several ways to approach care, which may involve chemotherapy, surgery and/or radiation therapy. The specialists on the team collaborate with each other to determine an optimal individualized treatment plan, as well as with the patient and family members 
to address personal needs and quality-of-life issues.

There are numerous research studies and projects dedicated to cancer being performed within Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine. The majority of clinical trials are developed from research projects. The Cancer Center has more than 100 active cancer clinical trials, several dedicated to breast cancer. Patients are encouraged to speak to their doctor and healthcare team to learn if there is an appropriate clinical trial for them.
