At Stony Brook Cancer Center, we understand that being diagnosed with cancer is life-altering and deserves individualized attention.

Our team of experts in orthopedic cancer is led by Fazel Khan, MD. Their extensive knowledge and high-level skills provide patients with advanced care for primary and cancerous (metastatic) tumors of the bone and soft tissues. Our multidisciplinary team includes orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, interventional radiologists, pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists, and plastic surgeons.

After a diagnosis is made, the team collaborates to create a comprehensive plan of care for each patient, that is customized to the type and stage of cancer they have, while accommodating personal needs and quality-of-life issues.

Both adults and children are treated by this team. The three main types of treatment are surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, alone, or in a combination. Immunotherapy treatments are also incorporated when applicable.
