Research Interests

My research focuses on how the gut microbiome and host immune system interact to drive intestinal and systemic inflammatory diseases. My research group integrates mechanistic, translational, and clinical approaches to develop microbiome-based diagnostics and novel therapeutics for inflammatory bowel disease, immune checkpoint inhibitor-associated colitis, cystic fibrosis-associated gastrointestinal disease, and other immune-mediated gastrointestinal disorders. A major focus of our work is treatment-resistant disease, including complex Crohn's disease such as perianal and postoperative disease, with an emphasis on developing innovative therapeutic strategies, including microbiome-based interventions and cell therapies. We are committed to advancing precision medicine by identifying microbial and host biomarkers that predict disease course and treatment response, enabling personalized therapeutic strategies tailored to individual patients.
