Research Interest
Dr. Montrose's lab focuses on understanding and modulating both intrinsic and extrinsic host factors in the gastrointestinal tract to prevent and treat colorectal cancer (CRC) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). His research explores how metabolism, diet, and immune regulation influence disease onset and progression.
Current projects include:
- Disrupting tumor cell metabolism by targeting nutrient synthesis and availability for CRC prevention and treatment.
- Developing dietary and pharmacological approaches to modify the influence of gut luminal factors on intestinal tumor development.
- Modulating immune cell metabolism to reduce inflammation and ameliorate IBD.
- Investigating the mechanisms of gut injury response to improve wound healing.
