About Dr. Edward Valentine

Dr. Edward Valentine joined Stony Brook Medicine in 1997 as the clinical director for the radiation therapy facility at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Dr. Valentine has an expertise in head and neck cancers, lymphoma/leukemia, and skin cancers. He is also experienced in many tumors in general oncology, including breast cancers. He performs state-of-the-art intensity-modulated radiotherapy for head and neck cancers, which is one of the most challenging and difficult sites for radiation therapy treatment due to its adverse effects. Yet, his warm and gentle nature gives comfort to each and every patient he encounters. 

Dr. Valentine received his medical degree from New York Medical College and performed a residency in radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He began his academic career as assistant professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1984. He also received an MBA degree from Yale University, and is involved in planning future projects for the department. He is currently the Director of Education in the Department of Radiation Oncology.

He has many years of experience in general oncology including breast cancer. At Stony Brook, Dr. Valentine is on the forefront of utilizing state-of-the-art technology in treating his patients. He is currently the Education Director for the Department of Radiation Oncology and also teaches courses in pathology to future medical professionals.
