Bong Soon Kim, MD, came to Stony Brook University Hospital in 2002 after an already illustrious career at South Nassau Community Hospital where he served as the Director of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Kim specializes in lung, gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal tumors. He is also highly experienced in a variety of other cancer sites including, but not limited to, breast cancer. Dr. Kim received his medical degree from Chonnam University School of Medicine in Kwangju, South Korea, one of the most prestigious medical schools in all of Korea. He completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Throughout the years, Dr. Kim has been actively participating in many clinical trial protocols. He is the principal investigator (PI) on several Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) trials, including:
• RTOG0631: Phase II/III Study of Image-Guided Radiosurgery/SBRT for Localized Spine Metastasis
• RTOG0915: A Randomized Phase II Study Comparing 2 Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) Schedules for Medically Inoperable Patients with Stage I Peripheral Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
• RTOG0618: A Phase II Trial of Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) in the Treatment of Patients with Operable Stage I/II Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Dr. Kim is also the co-investigator in several other clinical trials for brain tumor GBM, SBRT spinal metastasis, prostate cancer, and head and neck cancers. He remains on the forefront of technological advancement in regards to patient treatment and is a strong advocate for research and its impact on patient care. His concern for his patients, along with his treatment decision-making skills from his wide clinical experience, provides patients with the best personal and quality radiation therapy care.
