Stony Brook University (SBU) has long promoted training in cancer research and education. With the current drive to create a nationally-recognized Cancer Center that includes career enhancement, we are now bringing together these independent efforts to foster direct support for cancer research and education. Stony Brook Cancer Center is deeply committed to facilitating cancer research-relevant education, training and professional development at all stages of career progression.
Several initiatives target individuals historically underrepresented in science or address issues women face in different stages of career development, while others are inclusive to all investigators in training. Drawing upon faculty leadership from both within and outside Stony Brook Cancer Center (SBCC) who have a long history of developing cutting-edge biomedical education programming, SBCC takes advantage of existing programs to synergize with them and is leading the way with new cancer-focused initiatives.
