If you or a family member or friend have been diagnosed with cancer, you may be feeling a lot of uncertainty. At Stony Brook Cancer Center, we want to reassure you that our overarching goal is always to provide you with the most effective medical treatment while listening to your concerns and creating an individual plan of care, unique to your needs.
Depending on your type of cancer, you will become part of one of our 12 dedicated Disease Management Cancer Teams. Highly skilled professionals within each team, including surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurse practitioners, nurse navigators/coordinators, radiologists and social workers, will collaborate with each other as well as discuss your customized treatment plan with you. Your needs and concerns will be addressed with respect and compassion.
Oncology Nursing
A nurse navigator/coordinator is part of your team and will help you with scheduling, coordination of appointments, communication among team members and answering any questions. The navigator can also assist in bringing available clinical studies to your attention. We have a very active cancer clinical trial program, with more than 100 trials currently underway.
It’s our top priority to exceed your expectations. We look forward to welcoming and partnering with you during and following your care.
