The Stony Brook Cancer Center Golf Classic, held on September 19 at the Westhampton Country Club, was dedicated to the long-lasting legacy of Carol M. Baldwin, who passed away on May 26, 2022, at the age of 92. Her positive impact on Long Islanders facing cancer will reverberate for many decades.
To date, the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, Inc. has awarded research grants totaling in excess of $5 million to more than 100 researchers at Stony Brook. The funds provide researchers with the opportunity to advance our knowledge of the disease and further the drive for a cure. Proceeds from the outing benefitted the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund and the Cancer Center’s clinical trials program.
At this year’s event, Jane Baldwin Sasso, a Stony Brook University alumna, and her brother, actor Daniel Baldwin, played golf and their foursome was the tournament winner.
A huge thank you goes out to the event’s sponsors, the Golf Classic planning committee, the hundreds of supporting donors, as well as the 21 golfing teams and the dozens of volunteers, who helped make the charity golf tournament a very successful event.
