 Sylvia Macco, RN | Welcome to Stony Brook Cancer Center. My name is Sylvia Macco. I am a registered nurse with chemotherapy and biotherapy certification. I am the acting Nurse Navigator for the for the Gynecologic Oncology Team. For you, this means I am your first point of contact during your treatment. I will help you along with a multidisciplinary team, to support, guide and assist you through surgery, chemotherapy, and all aspects of I will follow-up with you to make sure all your questions concerning your disease and treatment are answered. Dr. Pearl is the Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Stony Brook Medicine. He is a medical doctor and a surgeon. Dr. Pearl and the team specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of benign (not cancerous) and malignant (cancerous; can spread from original site to other organs and tissues) cancers of the cervix, fallopian tube, ovary, peritoneum, uterus (endometrium), vagina and vulva. Melissa Henretta, MD, MPH, and Joyce Varughese, MD, are gynecologic oncologists specializing in minimally invasive procedures for gynecologic cancers. They use the da Vinci® Surgical System to perform robotic-assisted surgery for endometrial and cervical cancers.
