Dr. Chuan Huang is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Psychiatry, Director of PET/MR Clinical Research. He is also affiliated with Departments of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering, Stony Brook Cancer Center, Institute of Engineering-Driven Medicine, Neuroscience Institute, and AI institute. After obtaining his PhD in Mathematics and Minor in Optical Sciences (with an emphasis on Medical Imaging) from University of Arizona, he joined Massachusetts General Hospital - Harvard Medical School as a postdoctoral fellow. In 2014, he was promoted to Instructor in Harvard Medical School and joined Stony Brook as an Assistant Professor in the same year. He has received awards including SNMMI Young Investigator Honorable Mention (2 times), Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (aka NARSAD) Young Investigator Award, and Stanley Fahn Jr. Faculty Award. He is the vice chair of ISMRM PET/MR study group (advancing to Chair in May 2021). His Medical Image Research & Analysis (MIRA) lab's main research interests include: PET/MR technology and applications (cancer and neuro), Quantitative imaging (including Radiomics), Artificial Intelligence/Deep Learning in Radiology. MagDensity, a fully automated MR-based breast density measure developed in his MIRA lab, so far has been used in 4 NCI-funded clinical trials.
