Research Interest
Dr. Kurc's research seeks to develop techniques and tools that enable scalable processing and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled analysis of high-resolution, high-throughput imaging data, and that support management, query, and exploration of scientific datasets on high-performance computing platforms. He has a strong research and software development background in computer science and biomedical informatics, specializing in databases, high performance middleware systems and data analytics for scientific applications. His work is motivated by the requirements of basic and translational biomedical research projects that reference, analyze, and integrate large datasets. He has extensive experience collaborating with scientists and software developers in multi-disciplinary projects and have supervised postdoctoral researchers and software engineers for the design and implementation of integrated informatics platforms, high performance computing software, and AI applications.
