Research Interest
Dr. Wood is a Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the PhD in Nursing Program at the Stony Brook School of Nursing. With 36 years of oncology nursing experience, she holds dual board certification as an Advanced Oncology Nurse Practitioner and Adult Nurse Practitioner, specializing in the care of individuals with solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. Her academic background includes both a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and a PhD in Nursing, reflecting a career that bridges clinical expertise with research. She has wide-ranging experience managing and supporting oncology clinical trials in both community and hospital settings, as well as conducting investigator-initiated studies. Dr. Wood has collaborated locally and nationally with the Oncology Nursing Society on evidence-based practice and quality-improvement initiatives to enhance oncology care delivery. She also contributes to statewide efforts through her work with the New York State Cancer Consortium’s Cancer Survivorship Action Team. Her research interests center on a holistic, person-centered approach to oncology care, recognizing the bio-psycho-social-spiritual dimensions of health in cancer survivorship. Dr. Wood is committed to advancing evidence-based interventions that improve quality of life and care outcomes for people living with and beyond cancer.
