Research Interest

Dr. Ojima has a long track record of successful research projects in the area of drug discovery and medicinal chemistry of anticancer agents, especially in the taxane-based agents, tumor-targeted drug delivery, nano-drug delivery systems, and chemical biology. He has also been successfully promoting multidisciplinary drug discovery and development projects on fatty acid binding protein (FABP) inhibitors for next-generation anticancer agents. He has also been promoting computer-aided drug design and in silico screening/predictions for efficient drug discovery. One next-generation taxane of his invention advanced to the phase IIb human clinical trials, and a FABP inhibitor of his invention is currently in phase I/II human clinical trials. Another next-generation taxane with nanoemulsion formulation is about to begin human clinical trials.
