I am an Assistant Professor at the Stony Brook University School of Nursing with a joint appointment at the Stony Brook Cancer Center, Division of Population Health Science. I have worked clinically at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. My research focuses on understanding the health outcomes following toxic environmental exposure. With this understanding, my research then identifies evidence-based lifestyle medicine interventions to minimize or mitigate these health outcomes with the overall goal of improving the quality of life for the individuals and populations affected.

I work closely with the World Trade Center Health Program Research Group and with a multidisciplinary research group focused on health outcomes following airborne hazards and burn pit exposure in Veterans. As part of these collaborations, I have been funded by CDC/NOISH to test and implement a physical activity intervention to mitigate the health effects of toxic exposure for World Trade Center cancer survivors.

I am the proud recipient of the Connie Henke Yarbro Excellence in Cancer Nursing Mentorship Award, a national recognition of her mentorship of oncology nurses, as well as a Fellow at the New York Academy of Medicine.  I co-chair the Education Study Group of MASCC, the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer. I am dedicated to teaching in the PhD nursing program and am the lead faculty for the Population Health Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) team at Stony Brook University.
