Research Program

Lipid Signaling and Metabolism in Cancer

Department

Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology

Research Interest

My research interest focuses on increasing the response of cancer cells to therapeutic treatment by manipulating the species or enzymes of the sphingolipid metabolism. Particularly we focus on SPHK1/S1P signaling and deoxysphingolipids (an atypical class of sphingolipids). Our emphasis is on the study of glioblastoma multiforme, colorectal cancer, breast cancer and lymphoma by using various cancer cell lines as well as in vivo models. Furthermore, we are also looking for novel therapeutic strategies by altering the sphingolipid metabolic pathway.
