The main treatments for cancer are surgery, radiation therapy and medical oncology. They can be used alone or in combination with each other. The descriptions below include procedures that may be part of your care plan and specific treatment for each type of cancer listed. Surgery. Our surgeons use the latest technology, including minimally invasive techniques, trans-oral robotic surgery, laser microsurgery, image guidance, sentinel node biopsy, computer modeling and reconstruction planning and free tissue transfer.
• Reconstructive surgery. The team also provides reconstruction of surgical defects after cancer removal to restore both functionality and aesthetics in the head and neck area.
Radiation Oncology. Several technologies and techniques are available for radiation therapy, including external-beam radiation therapy (EBRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), proton beam therapy, Internal radiation therapy (brachytherapy), and three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT).
Medical Oncology. Current medical therapies include, chemotherapy, targeted drug therapies for advanced and metastatic disease, and immunotherapy.
