2023 Research Symposium

Cancer - the Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts

The Waterview, Port Jefferson

Despite advances over the last three to four decades, there continue to be many challenges – both new and old – in cancer research, detection, treatment, and prevention. While we can all agree that Stony Brook Cancer Center has many unique strengths and broad expertise across a range of disciplines, for us to rise and meet these challenges, it is becoming clearer that our strategies for tackling these problems must also evolve. With this firmly in mind, for the 2023 Cancer Center Research Symposium, we have chosen to take a different approach toward our goal of promoting and enhancing collaborative research.

This year, our agenda is focused on many thematic areas of interest that are shared across campus. We will hear short research presentations that are directly relevant to these thematic areas before transitioning to breakout groups. By bringing together researchers from various disciplines to brainstorm, we hope to spark new ideas and spur cross-disciplinary collaborations among the Cancer Center programs, Community Outreach and Engagement (COE), and the Translational Initiative in Population Sciences (TIPS) and more. As we move forward, we firmly believe that such collaborations will be instrumental in placing the Cancer Center in the best position to address the challenges of cancer both for our local community and the scientific community as a whole.

Registration for the 2023 Research Symposium is now Closed. Any questions regarding cancelation please contact Lauren Cutaia 631-444-8067 or email lauren.cutaia@stonybrookmedciine.edu.
