Department of Biochemistry and Cell BiologyResearch Interests
The Airola Lab is broadly interested in lipid metabolism and transport. We seek to understand the molecular details of these processes and develop new pharmacological and genetically encoded tools to monitor and control the generation of lipids in the cell. We focus on many aspects of lipid metabolism ranging from triglycerides, phospholipids, sphingolipids, and sterols. We have several other ongoing projects related to cancer, fungal infections, and metabolic disorders.
