Should I See a Nutritionist?

Patients receiving treatment through the Cancer Center have the opportunity to be counseled by the Cancer Center oncology dietitian whether or not symptoms are present. The following are just some of the reasons you may want to request a referral from your doctor for an appointment with a dietitian.

  • Weight loss
  • Trouble chewing or swallowing
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Diarrhea/constipation
  • Diminished appetite
  • Feeding tube/nutrition support
  • Undergoing radiation treatment to head/neck, abdominal area, and rectal area
  • Taking herbal therapies or extra vitamins and minerals
  • Surgery involving head and neck area, and GI tract
  • Nutritionally related wound care
