The mission of The International Ceramide Conference has always been to acknowledge and support the work of PhD students and early-stage researchers.

THE LINA M. OBEID AWARD Dr. Lina Obeid was a pioneering force in the sphingolipid field and a fierce advocate of women in science. To honor this advocacy, the Lina Obeid Award was created in 2021. This award will be presented to a junior female investigator who has made strong contributions to the lipid field. |

THE MARK KESTER AWARD Dr. Mark Kester was a leader in the sphingolipid field with an impressive record of research accomplishments in cancer and sphingolipid-based nanotherapeutics. His ceramide-based nanoliposomes reached Phase I clinical trials in both solid tumors and AML. To honor Mark’s efforts to translate research bench to bedside, we created the Mark Kester award. This award, generously sponsored by Cayman Chemical, will be presented for the first time in 2023 to a junior investigator. |
