The radiation oncology nurses are specifically involved in the clinical health of patients before, during and after their treatment. Nurses are usually the member of the team who the patient first encounters. They are very involved during the patient's course of treatment. Nurses interview patients regarding any symptoms they may be experiencing as a result of their treatment. They also assist the radiation oncologists in coordinating treatments, managing the plan of care and providing education. After completion of the treatment, nurses continue providing follow-up care along with the physician. Currently, our department has five registered nurses (RN’s), two clinical assistants and four nursing station clerks. The personal care our patients receive from our nursing staff is second to none.
